This is an awesome and amazing place for those interested in the wrong southern view in the civil war. Very beautiful gardens right on the coast on beach boulevard. Great friendly staff. Interesting southern gift shop not made for yanks. This was an awesome learning experience for the family. Even has animals.
Any memorial, monument, museum, flag, or even a statue that represents the old South in any way should be destroyed and forgotten. The south's shameful slavery history is repulsive and hurtful to not only black Americans but even to alot of white people - like me. I never visited this musem - and based on other people's reviews I'm sure it's nice and all - but what it represents to me is all the reason why I chose not to go.
I had a great time walking the grounds Hope to come back again when I have more time The library was great, I was there right after Katrina in this place is really came a long ways ,everyone's done a great job.
We also toured the Jefferson Davis House and Museum located on the same property. It was awesome. One of the best tours I have ever been on.
This was an amazing experience. This is a monument for not only southern history, but american history. People disrespect places like this for being a confederate memorial, but they are a part of the history of all of us and and a reason why they are able to express their opinions about the place and the people who it represents. Anyways, this was a life-changing experience and I recommend everyone to go.
